A FATHER-of-two from Sale who died of cancer will be remembered in an 80s tribute night organised by his widow.

Katie Argyrides, from Stanley Mount, has set up a fund in her husband Chris’s memory to help raise money for The Christie hospital, where he received treatment during his illness.

The event, which takes place on Saturday, June 16 at the Cresta Court Hotel in Altrincham, will have a Greek-theme, honouring the family’s Cypriot heritage.

Katie said of Chris, who died in December at the age of just 51: “He told me to celebrate his life even though it was a short one “The fund I am setting up, and the 80s night, is a good way to do that.”

Katie said the night is a perfect way to pay tribute to her husband, who she met in the 80s, as he was always the “first one on the dance floor and the last one off it.”

As well as playing Chris’s favourite music, the night will also have a raffle in which guests can win signed sports memorabilia.

The couple’s two boys, South Trafford College student Andreas (18) and Angelo (13), will also be in attendance to honour their father’s memory.

Angelo, who attends Ashton-Under-Mersey High School, shares his London-born father’s passion for Chelsea Football club.

Katie, who has recently become a fundraiser for The Christie, says Chris will be fondly remembered in the Sale community as a big personality, a loving father and a caring husband.

Tickets, and more information, are available by calling Katie on 07752 143143.
