The Friends of the Bridgewater Canal

THE Friends of the Bridgewater Canal will once again be conducting an evening litter pick along the Bridgewater Canal in Sale on Wednesday, May 30 at 7pm.

Meeting place is on the Waterside Plaza next to the Canal. Litterpickers and rubbish bags will be provided, and it is recommended that participants bring along gardening type gloves.

The group aims to clean up the pathway in readiness for the busy summer season and summer festival activities in Sale. The clean-ups usually take a couple of hours.

whats needed is a proper path built on the canal bank from brooklands towards timperley, or atleast complete the bit of path already down going past walton park as it does not go down far enough opposite the cemetary which as many people will know is dangerous to both cyclists and walkers/runners when its been raining

I admire the continual effort these folks put into making this section of towpath clean and litter-free, the are to be commended.
On the other hand, I feel nothing but anger towards the people who continually use this area for dumping rubbish and litter as well as a place for emptying their dogs. Shame on them for they must be local !!
There is no excuse !!
