Charity cycle boosts hospital fund

8:10am Wednesday 16th May 2012

A HALE couple cycled from Oxford to Paris in aid of a new cancer hospital on Thursday May 3.

Simon McCrum, managing partner of Darbys Solicitors, invited wife Angie along to join him and 50 other Darbys employees on the ride, which raised £25,000.

Their route took in 280 miles along the way, finishing under the Eiffel Tower on May 5.

The money raised will go towards a purple garden at the new hospital in Oxford, where Darbys is based. The firm opened an office in Hale six months ago.

The legal company has exceeded its £50,000 fundraising target through the cycle and other ventures.

Simon said: “We’ve all been training really hard and are delighted to have helped raise so much money for such a worthy cause.”
