MORE than 60 businesses and societies showcased their wares, sold goods and offered samples of their products to residents, at the third Bowdon Business Fair.

It was hosted by St Mary’s Church, Bowdon in Bowdon Parish Centre on May 2.

The event, which was free of charge to exhibitors and visitors alike, grew from the church's commitment to support businesses and promote them to the community.

Around 600 people packed out the parish centre and discovered just how much is available.

With live music courtesy of the Cinnamon Club, delicious curry sampling by Swadesh and planting demonstrations by Lomax Hanging Baskets, stands ranged from cupcakes to croquet, vintage clothing to jewellery, interior design to website solutions.

There was very positive feedback from the exhibitors: "Thank you for allowing us to take part in a brilliantly organised event," wrote one of the participating businesses.

The Rev Roger Preece, vicar of Bowdon, said a prayer of blessing and expressed appreciation for all that local businesses do to support and strengthen community life.

A grand raffle, with more than 40 prizes donated by participating businesses, added to the undoubted buzz of the evening.
