ALTRINCHAM marketing agency RMS has been appointed by JD Outdoors to promote its official Pudsey-themed Ramble Hat in support of this year’s BBC Children in Need.

RMS is handling all PR activity, including media relations and celebrity endorsements to raise awareness and to promote the hats.

As part of the integrated campaign, RMS has developed a full social media strategy that hinges on people taking a selfie wearing the hat using the hashtag #PutAHatOn.

The company, which includes Blacks, Millets, Ultimate Outdoors and Go Outdoors, has created the hat as part of a nationwide campaign to encourage people to organise sponsored rambles and raise money to support BBC Children in Need.

Ruth Shearn, managing director, commented: “To win such an illustrious account is testament to our consumer PR expertise and longstanding success in effectively launching products at a national level.

“Our consumer team has been helping brands raise awareness of new and existing products successfully for years and is well placed to achieve the clear objectives of this campaign.

“At RMS we are committed to delivering a return on investment for our all of our clients and we’ll be working closely with the JD Outdoors team to ensure we continue to drive sales of the hats and raise as much money as possible for Children in Need.

“We have already seen amazing support from celebrities including Louise Redknapp and Jorgie Porter - make sure you #PutAHatOn for Pudsey this November!”

The Pudsey-themed hats are £6 and all proceeds go directly to BBC Children in Need. The hats are available both instore and online – www.blacks.co.uk/accessories/023792-children-in-need-ramble-hat-yellow.html.
