STRETFORD residents Lydia and Charis Townsend held a bake sale on Wardle Close to raise money for Cancer Research.
Lydia, who is aged 10, designed posters and with the help of her elder sister Charis, she baked cookies and cup-cakes.
The cake sale lasted for 1 hour and 30 mins and in that time Lydia and Charis were able to raise £70.00.
Lydia said: “Our neighbours were very kind to us and they bought nearly all of the things we baked. Even the postman bought some cakes. We raised £70.00 and my mum sent a cheque to cancer research.
“I wanted to help cancer research because if a cure is found for cancer lots more people will have a chance to live longer.”
Cancer Research does not receive government funding and therefore relies on donations
