MANY disadvantaged children will have a happier Christmas this year thanks to the generosity of the people of Trafford.

The annual Altrincham Rotary Club toys and tins appeal has taken off well, with lots of donations being made already.

President of Altrincham Rotary Club Steven Woods said: “We have been collecting these toys and tins this last week and are on schedule to get the 2,000 toys target to supply needy families in the Trafford area.”

Toys and tins can be donated at the following stores; Altrincham Marks and Spencer, Boots, Randalls Jewellers, Art with a Heart, Rackhams, Wilkos, the Salvation Army shop and Riddles, opposite the market.

In Timperley, Luxistore, Bocadillos and Sausolitos coffee shop are also providing drop-off points, as is The Railway Pub in Hale and Ashbrooks store in Sale.

Toys must be new and unwrapped and for children between 0- 18 years old.

Rachel Steward, from the Salvation Army, said: “Altrincham Rotary Club are doing a magnificent job and families and children who would not normally receive these items will now have a better Christmas.”
