PART of a property in Altrincham town centre is to be converted into flats.

Cheshire Urban Living, in partnership with property developer, Quinta Group, has acquired the freehold of the mixed residential and retail property in Stamford New Road.

The vacant property comprises 3,200 sq ft on four floors, and the intention is to retain its retail use, while also using part of it for accommodation.

Alexander Clarke, director of Quinta Group, said: "We are in the process of submitting a planning application to convert and refurbish the building in line with the progressive views of the Altrincham Town Centre Neighbourhood Business Plan.

"The project will create six high quality living apartments with a smaller retail outlet. Our plan is to utilise underused, empty buildings in and around the town centre, which has been chosen for its location, diversity and projected growth.

"We are keen to purchase or jointly develop retail, office or land opportunities of any size."

Daniel Lee, director, Regional Property Solutions, who acted for the vendor BRS Investments Ltd, said: “There is a strong demand and active sales of freehold premises in the centre of Altrincham. These are being acquired for conversion into residential/retail use.

"The town is certainly becoming a hotspot for town centre living, which has no doubt been influenced by the completion of the new hospital, but one that will create a more vibrant atmosphere in the town.”
