SIX people were arrested at last night’s Manchester Derby – but a police chief said the majority of the fans behaved ‘excellently’.

On Wednesday October 26, thousands of fans turned out for the Manchester United v Manchester City League Cup match at Old Trafford.

Manchester United clinched the win with 1-0.

Three people were arrested for being drunk and disorderly and one for racist abuse. There was one public order arrest and another person was arrested for theft by an employee.

Match Commander Chief Inspector Dean Howard said: “I’d like to thank everyone for their cooperation and support throughout the entirety of the match.

“Apart from a handful of arrests, the behaviour of the majority of the fans in attendance was excellent and everyone was able to enjoy the match in a safe environment.”
