PET owners are being warned after a dog died in another suspected poisoning case in Trafford.

The borough has been rocked by a number of claims dogs are being maliciously targeted at walking hotspots, such as parks and fields.

Earlier this month, a dog had died after eating ‘chicken and sausages laced with poison’ in the Devisdale, Bowdon, and contaminated meat was reportedly found in Sale Water Park and Worthington Park.

The police were informed of the Devisdale incident and environmental inspectors from Trafford Council investigated.

Then on Monday October 17, an elderly woman’s dog suddenly died after being taken for a walk on Cecil Avenue in Sale.

Karen Cox, from Sale, who meets the lady on dog walks around the area, said that the dog had eaten sausages that were sitting under bushes near to Ashton on Mersey School.

The dog started to display the symptoms of poisoning and within hours the dog had sadly died.

“They think it was rat poison,” said Karen. “A vet was rushing him to an animal hospital but he died before they got him there. The lady is sad to have lost him.”

Karen said the incident is worrying for her and fellow dog owners.

“My dog eats anything he can get near, like many dogs,” she said. “Nobody wants to lose their family pet.”
