In a year of Olympic success, Sale High School students have achieved gold.

Sale High School is quite rightly proud of their record breaking examination results this year.

The school reported outstanding progress of the young people as they surpassed the 60 per cent boundary for at least five A*-C Grades, including English and Mathematics.

2016 saw records being broken for a range of subjects in both attainment and student progress, testament to the dedicated staff as well as the ethos and culture of the school.

The school’s progress 8 data is strong and suggests students achieve a third of a grade above national expectations across the curriculum.

The success of the English Baccalaureate route sees 33 per cent of students achieving the full suite of qualifications, well above the last published National Average of 24 per cent.

All of the students achieved A* - C in Chemistry, Physics and Biology, 88 per cent in Art, 84 per cent in Drama, 80 per cent in English Language and 80 per cent in Music.

More than 85 per cent achieved this benchmark in RE, 73 per cent in History, 76 per cent in Food Technology, 79 per cent in English Literature and 72 per cent in Spanish.

A school spokesperson said: “We are proud of our inclusive ethos and that students, whatever their background, are achieving so much better than the National Average. Our pupil premium gap is 6 per cent compared to the last published national gap of 27 per cent and is one of the best in Trafford. This means we are serving all our students well.

“There are some outstanding individual and group results and on the podium this year are; Lowry Hazelwood with 7A*s, 3As, 1B, Daniyal Majoka with 6A*s, 3As, 2Bs and Charlotte French with 3A*s, 6As and 2Bs.

“The ‘school in the community’ sets its sights on ‘Outstanding’ status. Congratulations to all students who worked hard to achieve success. We wish them well in their next adventure.”
