THE A56 roadworks have finally come to an end.

The One Trafford Partnership has confirmed that the roadworks at the Park Road junction of Washway Road were wrapped up yesterday, Sunday August 21.

The roadworks, which have caused major traffic disruption for months, involved a widening project at the junction of Park Road.

The dual carriageway was reduced to one lane in both directions for two months, which resulted in endless tailbacks on the arterial road.

But One Trafford confirmed that all traffic management at the junction has been removed and the lane restrictions are no longer in place.

New traffic signals are also up and running.

There are a few remaining works to be completed, but these will affect pedestrians only. The final surfacing on the footpaths is to be take place but is not expected to interrupt traffic flow.

The partnership issued an apology earlier this month after the finish date was pushed back to the weekend of August 27.

The partnership claims the delay in the work has been 'unavoidable'.
