FLIXTON Girls School (FGS) has developed an internship programme to enhance links between the school and leading companies.
FGS contacted Barclays Bank business section to develop a one-day-a-week year long internship programme. Barclays secured two placements in their business section for students.
Two year 10 students Misbah Qureshi and Aliyah Hussain have now completed their year-long internship at Barclays Bank which was an outstanding success.
Both girls prepared a presentation that was delivered to Barclays staff.
Both girls were made to feel part of the team and worked in several departments.
Denise Roberts, team leader in operations at Barclays, said; ‘I agreed to mentor the students from the onset onto the programme. Aliyah and Misbah were nervous initially but soon became confident and weren’t afraid to approach the teams. They were always polite, well mannered, hardworking and never displayed any negative behaviours.
"It was apparent that they were very bright and able, even demonstrating power point skills for us. They were a pleasure to mentor, and a real credit to the school and their parents.’
