A GROUP of Stretford cyclists will be climbing into the saddle next week, for an ambitious 24-hour spinathon in aid of Help for Heroes.

On Monday, May 2, the four-strong team will begin pedalling at Stretford Mall’s Pure Gym at 6.30pm, with at least one bike being cycled for the whole of the next 24 hours.

Before starting their charity challenge, the group will be in Stretford Mall on Saturday, April 30, between 11am and 2pm getting warmed up and hoping to raise more money for the charity.

Pure Gym manager, Richard Corbishley, said he couldn’t wait for the team to get pedalling.

“Activities such as this endurance challenge are really important to us as we really believe in supporting charities as much as possible,” he said.

“Help for Heroes is such an important charity and we hope that by being in Stretford Mall prior to the challenge people, will be inspired to donate and help us reach our target.”

The spinners will be in the shopping centre between 11am and 2pm on Saturday, with two of the bikes being used, when shoppers will be able to find out more about the challenge and make donations.

Stretford Mall centre manager, Gareth Wilkins, said he was thrilled to be able to welcome challengers into the mall ahead of the spinathon. “We’re a big community here at Stretford Mall so we were only too happy to support the Pure Gym efforts in aid of Help for Heroes,” he said. “We hope that our shoppers come and show their support this weekend, and we’re all looking forward to seeing how much money the team can raise.”

Alongside the spinathon, Pure Gym will also be holding a fundraising raffle with some special prizes donated by Manchester United, Frankie and Benny’s and Aerial Extreme. Tickets will be available to purchase in the gym throughout the course of the challenge.
