TWO blundering burglars have been jailed for a botched bank machine raid in Sale.
Jamie Ronald Keegan and Marc Andrew Shelton, both of Thirsk Avenue, in Sale, were sentenced to 40 months after pleading guilty to stealing a cash machine from a Halifax bank.
The 30-year-olds broke into the School Road branch just after midnight on December 12 2015.
The thieves drove a white van into the front of the bank, smashing through the glass.
Once inside, they removed a cash deposit machine and put it in the back of the van.
On their escape, they caught the attention of the police, who pursued the vehicle with support from a police helicopter. During the pursuit the cash machine - which was empty - fell out of the back of the van.
The van was then abandoned and two men made off on foot but they were detained by police shortly after.
