HE is making waves in the world of competitive swimming but athlete James Guy has his feet fixed firmly on the ground.

James is enjoying his recent success in both the World and Commonwealth Championships but took time out of his busy schedule to pay a recent visit to his former primary school, Forest Preparatory School in Altrincham.

After enjoying a tour of the school, the 20-year-old took the time to meet with the pupils, taking questions, signing autographs, and posing for pictures with his young fans.

Rick Hyde, headteacher at Forest Preparatory School, said: “James is a huge fan of Forest School, particularly Mrs Eley. He contacted us to ask if he could visit and meet some of our pupils, and of course we were delighted to welcome him back.

“The children were thrilled to have the opportunity to meet him, and were inspired by his story. We are extremely proud of James and wish him every success in the 2016 Olympics.”

James won two gold medals in the 2015 World Aquatic Championship, is European and World Junior Champion in the 4 x 200 metre Freestyle Relay, and holds the World Junior record in this event. This summer, James will be representing Britain at the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
