A DRIVER who killed a motorcyclist after colliding with his bike at 125mph on the M60 has been jailed for dangerous driving.

James Lee was speeding along the busy motorway stretch at junction 6 for Sale at around 4.20pm on December 20 2014 when he attempted to overtake a motorcyclist.

The biker, Scott Hope, 27, pulled into lane three and collided with Lee’s black Seat Leon Cupra. He lost control of the motorbike and was fatally injured.

Lee, 30, of Dorchester Road, Swinton, pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving. He was sentenced to 18 months behind bars and has been disqualified from driving for three years and nine months.

Sergeant Paul Higgins, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Lee was travelling over 125 miles per hour as he overtook Scott on his motorcycle who was also travelling at high speed. Scott lost control and sadly lost his life just five days before Christmas.

“A collision such as this highlights the dangers involved with driving at high speed on public roads.”
