A TIMPERLEY boy is organising a ‘hair-raising’ stunt in memory of his father and to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Callum Stone, aged 11, will have his hair shaved off at Jamesons Barbershop, on Heyes Lane, Timperley.

His fundraiser on July 6 comes just over a year after his dad, Ged, lost his battle with stomach cancer at the age of 49.

School teacher Ged was the head of physics at St Ambrose College in Hale Barns, the school where Callum is a pupil along with his brother, Luke, 15.

Callum said: “ I want to help other people now and raise money for Cancer Research.

"I am doing this because I want to help find a cure for cancer as I don’t want anyone else to suffer like Dad did, or lose their dad like I did.

"I have chosen to shave my head because I want to look like my Dad who was bald!

" I am very proud of my Dad and excited to be doing this for him."

Callum's mum, Lorraine, said: "We are very proud of him.

"He was nine when my husband was diagnosed and it has been a very tough two years.

"I am very proud that someone so young wants to do something so radical to help other people."

Callum added: "So far I have managed to raise £2109 and I am amazed at this total because it’s completely smashed my target of £200 and my granny has collected £400 from her friends offline.

"I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has sponsored me so far.

"I have written a blog with my story and I hope it will encourage anyone to sponsor me for shaving my head and the money raised will be used to help us beat cancer sooner.
