CHRISTMAS came early to Stretford Mall as part of a film shoot for a new series of a BBC children’s drama.
Parts of the shopping centre were adorned with festive decorations for the Christmas episode of the CBBC series 'All At Sea'.
Bemused shoppers stood and watched a 20-strong film crew directing young actors Olivia Cosgrove, Sam Hattersley and Ryan Wilkinson as they shot scenes for the new series, which is due to start in the autumn.
Only last month, Stretford Mall hit cinema screens when BELIEVE, a fictional film based on the legendary Manchester United manager, Sir Matt Busby, went on international release.
Speaking at the filming, BBC producer Simon Nelson, said: “Children’s BBC moved to Media City and with that being our central base now, we are keen in children’s drama to use the area around us for locations and use local businesses and the local population to produce best quality programming.
“Looking to Stretford Mall, we needed some authentic retail space and it is very close to our studio base in Wythenshawe and we feel very lucky that Stretford Mall is happy to have us.”
