DETECTIVES in Trafford are investigating an arson attack after a bottle containing an accelerant was thrown though a window.
Four children and an adult who were in the Broadheath house at the time were not harmed.
At around 2.45pm on July 28, emergency services were called to a house on Milner Street, following reports of a fire.
Offenders had approached the house and thrown a bottle contacting an accelerant through the first floor bedroom window.
The window was open and the fluid dripped into the bedroom and down the front of the house.
They then threw a second unknown object at the house which caused the accelerant to catch light.
A neighbour heard the bang and, seeing flames, then immediately helped the four children and adult out of the house to safety.
Fire officers attended and put out the blaze.
Det Sgt Izzy Dever, from Trafford division, said: "Whoever threw these bottles at the house had no regard for the people inside.
"It was a deliberate and callous attack where people could have been seriously injured. Fortunately the family were able to escape and call the fire service before the fire took hold.
"Anyone with information should call 0161 856 1718 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
