TRAFFORD residents are invited to have their say on £60,000 worth of Trafford Council grants available for community, voluntary and charity sector groups, who want to run projects that will enhance their local area.

Groups from Old Trafford and Stretford and South Trafford (Altrincham, Timperley, Hale and Bowdon) have applied for funding of up to £4,000 each for projects which support local opportunities to improve health and wellbeing including healthy eating, reducing barriers to employment, increasing and developing skills and improving where people live.

Residents will decide which groups receive funding at voting events, where they will be able to drop-in at any time and meet the groups to ask questions about their projects before casting their votes.

North Trafford’s event will be held on July 12, at Stretford Leisure Centre, Great Stone Road, from 1pm–4pm.

South Trafford’s event will be held July 19, at Altrincham Town Hall from 11am-3pm.

Exhibitions are also being held to showcase the projects that are looking to receive funding, so the public has chance to learn more about each initiative.

The Old Trafford and Stretford projects can be viewed at Old Trafford Community Centre, Stretford Library and Stretford Leisure Centre until July 11.

The South Trafford projects can be viewed at Altrincham Library, Altrincham Hub and Broomwood Centre until July 18.

The shortlisted projects can also be viewed at thrivetrafford.org.uk.

Cllr John Lamb, executive member for partnerships and communities said: “There are some really exciting projects on show, which will deliver improvements within our community and have a positive impact on local people.

“We want local people to show their support by coming along, meeting the groups and voting on which they think should receive funding.

“I would urge people from Old Trafford and Stretford to come to the events and have their voice heard.”
