Severe delays on Sale road after man threatens to jump from bridge

POLICE closed a Sale road for several hours after a man threatened to jump off a bridge.

A member of the public called emergency services at around 6pm on Saturday, March 16, after a distressed male was seen at a high point on the M60 motorway bridge at Junction 7, which crosses over the A56, Chester Road.

Police placed road closures around the area and specifically trained officers eventually managed to talk the man down.

He was taken to Trafford General Hospital at around 9pm.

The incident caused severe traffic delays on Chester Road for several hours, forcing all drivers onto the motorway.

The congestion was added to by a Manchester United game which was taking place that night and a chemical leak at Trafford Park.

I spotted him. That is a fair way to fall though he may have survived. Where was Lethal Weapon Mel Gibson when you need him. Would have speeded up the resolution.
From a learners point of view you would have broken the law by driving on the motorway. Maybe in this instance you would have been let off?
