Red Nose Day Neuterthon in Sale
8:10pm Monday 11th March 2013 in News
SOUTHFIELDS Veterinary Surgery in Sale is hoping to recruit 100 cats for its Red Nose Day neutering event on March 17.
“Our challenge is to neuter 100 cats in 1 day,” said veterinary surgeon, Claire Nicholls.
“All of our staff are donating their time, and our suppliers are donating anaesthetic drugs, consumables and equipment.
“Cat owners are being asked for a minimum donation of £25.00, every penny going to Comic Relief.
“Spring is an ideal time of year to neuter both male and female cats, before the breeding season starts, so that there will be fewer unwanted cats and kittens being brought into rescue centres later on in the year. There are also a limited number of procedures being offered to local cat charities.”
The practice is hoping that by organising the event for a Sunday, more people will be available to bring their cats in.
“Cats must be at least four months of age,” added Paula Gallimore, head nurse. .”They will receive exactly the same care that they would on a normal day, with pain relief, antibiotics, and post op checks all included in the price.
“If anyone would like to donate up to the full normal cost of the procedure, then obviously that’s fine with us!”
