A COMMUNITY conservation and planting event was held at Dainewell Park in Sale on March 2.

It was organised jointly by Red Rose Forest, Trafford Council/Trafford Environment Partnership and Friends of Dainewell Park.

Fifteen fruit trees including pear, apple, plum and damson tree were planted to create a small orchard, while more than 400 small trees including hawthorn, blackthorn, alder buckthorn and dog rose were planted to form a hedge.

Pupils from Manor High School and Firs Primary School took part in a planting event on February 26 at the park.
