Plans submitted for new Asda in Broadheath - 350 jobs expected
PLANS have been submitted for the new Asda in Broadheath, which developers promise will create 350 permanent jobs for people in the area.
Trafford Park-based Property Alliance Group (PAG) is bringing forward the proposals for a 40,000 sq ft net foodstore and petrol filling station at a site off George Richards Way.
PAG distributed consultation documents to 10,000 households in the Broadheath area, which indicated that 88 per cent of residents supported the plans, although only 795 forms were returned.
However, Messenger conducted its own online poll and 72 per cent of the 283 people who voted are in favour of the scheme.
A Property Alliance Group spokesperson said: “We would like to thank all residents who participated in the consultation, their feedback has been really useful and we have amended our plans to reflect the comments made.
“The proposals will rejuvenate the site, which currently houses a dated warehouse unit, and create over 350 permanent jobs in the area.
“The store would also reduce the need for residents to travel so far to do their weekly shopping.
“We’re very pleased to be submitting our application and will continue to work with Trafford Council and engage with local people throughout the planning process.”
The application is to be determined by Trafford Council in May and if it is approved, PAG anticipate that the new store would open in spring 2014.
