ONE of the region's oldest scout groups, 3rd Altrincham Scout Group, is kicking off a year of celebrations to mark its centenary year and are looking for former members to join in.
The Hale based troop was formerly established in 1913 and moved into their scout hut a year later where meetings and events are still held to this day.
The group is hoping that former scouts, cubs or leaders will get in touch and come along to their birthday bashes on May 5 and 8 as well as share their memories of the group or lend them any memorabilia they may have.
Current scout leader, Dave Smith said, “Scouting has changed a lot in the last 100 years but the skills you learn, whether it's beavers, cubs, scouts or explorers, last you for life and the memories and friendships do too. We hope that we can get as many ex-members involved to share their experiences of the group, camps, gang shows, or simply being a scout.”
If you or your relatives went to 3rd Altrincham Scouts or had any involvement with the group, have any memories to share, or want tickets for thecentenary celebrations, contact Dave by email at david.smith90@tesco.net.
