Mayor of Trafford attends Altrincham Rotary Club 83rd Charter Dinner

THE Rotary Club of Altrincham held its 83rd charter (birthday) dinner at the Cresta Court Hotel, Altrincham.

The get together was attended by 80 Rotarians including guests and friends representing more than 10 Rotary Clubs in the area.

Also in attendance at the event on January 21 was the Mayor of Trafford, Cllr Patricia Young and her consort, Cllr Michael Young.

After enjoying a roast lamb meal the guests listened to Chris Boyes Past President from the Rotary Club of Altrincham who outlined all that the Rotary International organisation, with 34,000 clubs and 1.2million members, had achieved in more than 90 years of existence.

Worldwide projects including polio eradication, clean water, literacy and, in Trafford, the Christmas toy appeal, which generated more than 1800 gifts for underprivileged children.

The main speaker was Joe Boyd a barrister who gave a fun talk about the legal field.

The Rotary Club of Altrincham has raised thousands of pounds in the area for small and large projects helping communities where possible and helps mentor in schools and other worthwhile projects.
