IT is to be hoped Altrincham has got its tactics and team selection right when Sky football pundit and England assistant coach Gary Neville switches on the town’s Christmas lights tomorrow (Thursday).
The former Manchester United captain will join BBC presenter and Manchester City fan, Jacey Normand on stage at the Stamford Quarter from 5.30pm.
Altrincham FC will put in an appearance and Altrincham Children’s Choir will make their debut performance to entertain the crowd before the countdown.
Gary is used to more sophisticated technology in his analysis of the Premier League, but he will just need to press the button to light up Altrincham for the festive season.
The switch on is the first event in Altrincham’s first Christmas marketing campaign. Led by Altrincham Forward, working with Metrolink and the Stamford Quarter, it is aimed at encouraging both residents and visitors to shop and spend leisure time in the town centre.
