QUALITY Save will be the latest retailer to open in Eden Square in Urmston when it begins trading on November 3.
The company, which has taken premises of 10,000 sq ft in phase two of Eden Square, has had a presence in Urmston for 35 years and has developed a loyal customer base within the town.
The store used to be located in the original precinct and moved to a temporary location on Station Road while the redevelopment of the shopping centre took place.
North West-based Eric Wright Construction began work on Phase 2 of the multi-million pound shopping centre development in January this year. The scheme is being delivered in a partnership between Trafford Council and Ask Developments, with Quality Save being its latest tenant.
As well as offering a purpose built superstore 12 times larger than its Station Road premises, Quality Save has created 35 new jobs in the town, significantly increasing its current team of 15 staff.
To celebrate the launch, Quality Save is teaming up with Flixton Academy of Performing Arts, which will provide entertainment throughout the day, outside the store.
Leon Guyett, development director at Ask Developments, said: “Quality Save is a home grown Manchester company with a loyal customer base in Urmston, and we are very pleased to welcome them back to Eden Square.
“The development is a focal point in Urmston and we are sure that Quality Save will be a fantastic addition to the wider shopping offer in the town.”
Paul Rudkin, managing director of Quality Save, said: “We are delighted to be moving into a purpose built store in the heart of Urmston. We are also looking forward to being able to have our full range of products in the new Urmston store. We have 35 years of history in Urmston and can’t wait for the next 35 years in a town that is close to our heart.”
Phase two of Eden Square was designed to accommodate retailers who required larger premises than those offered in phase one, with just 1,668 sq ft on Flixton Road and 1,402 sq ft in the Square remaining for potential tenants.
Frozen food specialist, Iceland, is due to move into its 7,500 sq ft premises on November 14.
Michael Hyman, executive cvouncillor for economic growth and prosperity at Trafford Council, said: “The council is committed to ensuring its town centres are bustling, vibrant, exciting places with lots of big name and smaller shopping outlets.
“Having well-established, locally respected shops like Quality Save, recognising the huge benefits that Eden Square offers them and committing their future to Urmston is great news and provides a further boost to the local economy.
“The fast-approaching festive season provides the ideal opportunity for local people and visitors to get into Trafford’s town centres and enjoy the shopping and leisure opportunities they offer.”
