A HALE based company is launching a brand-new device allowing people to charge their phones while on the move.

The machine is set to be unveiled at 10 shopping centres around the UK next month and will be free to use.

U Charge Ltd, was set up by friends Liam King, 24, of Sale, Sean Kennedy, 27 and Scott Stapleton - son of former Manchester United star Frank Stapleton -, 27, of Hale.

The idea first came to Liam on a night out in Manchester last June.

He said: “I was on a night out and my battery ran out. I turned to my friend and said I would pay good money if somebody would charge my phone up.”

Liam then went home and after hours scouring the internet he finally came up with the idea for his business.

Liam then travelled to China and the USA looking for a manufacturer but decided to build the patented machines in-house instead.

He said: “I’m very proud of the quality of our machines. It is a lot better than what is out there.”

The design will allow the machines to be accessed easily by wheelchair users and children.

Users will be able to play games, browse the web and receive advertising offers and promotions while they wait 15 minutes for their phone to charge.

Liam is excited about the future potential the device has, with visions of the device being installed in coffee shops, theme parks and music festivals.
