A CAMPAIGN led full-service marketing agency, RMS PR, to scoop up a hotly-contested industry award.

The Altrincham-based agency was awarded the ‘Consumer PR Campaign of the Year’ award for its Parma Violets Flavoured Cheese campaign at the PR Moment Awards.

Fighting off stiff competition from a packed field of eight other consumer PR campaigns, RMS PR triumphed with its innovative campaign celebrating the 70th anniversary of the iconic Parma Violets sweets.

A panel of 93 judges were impressed by what was “simply a ridiculous, yet highly effective idea which was delivered on a tiny budget and achieved excellent results.” A simple yet audacious idea coupled with expert media relations ensured the campaign reached over ten million people and was featured across several national radio and television outlets.

Ruth Shearn, managing director at RMS PR, said: “We are beyond thrilled to have won this most coveted of awards. Considering there were over 800 entries this year, to come out on top as winners is a phenomenal achievement.

“Consumer PR is one of the hardest nuts to crack and to be recognized for having produced the best campaign in this sector is testimony to the creativity, innovation and PR expertise of our team.

“For nearly three decades we have been producing award winning PR campaigns and this award is right up there with the best we’ve ever produced – Parma Violets Flavoured Cheese, who’d have thought it!”

The cream of the UK’s PR industry gathered at the Hilton Hotel, Manchester, for the annual PR Moment Awards ceremony on Thursday 16th March to recognise the best in PR for 2016.
