FAST growing Altrincham-based care home operator, New Care, has appointed Cathryn Fairhurst as its chief operating officer.

In her new role, Cath takes responsibility for the quality of care and commercial performance of the care homes that operate under the New Care banner. This includes the existing care centres and the recruitment and operating systems of the planned new builds.

Passionate about the care industry and driven to achieve, she aims to ensure New Care is the care home of choice for those looking for quality residential care, and an exceptional place to work that is also highly employee-focussed.

Cath has held senior roles at other national healthcare providers including Barchester Healthcare and Four Seasons Health Care. She was attracted to New Care due to its family-orientated approach and the opportunity to join a rapidly developing and relatively young business with ambitious expansion plans.

Commenting on her appointment, Cath said: “I’m delighted to be joining the New Care team. Every single individual within the company has the residents’ best interests at heart and is committed to delivering the best possible levels of care, nursing and individual support.

“This position at New Care offers the unique opportunity to be involved from the very beginning, shaping and steering the individual build projects by working with the architects and builders to ensure that our homes enable residents to live in the most positively designed environment possible. I will be personally involved at all levels with design and build, recruitment and selection and delivery of care to the benefit of our residents.”

CEO at New Care, Chris McGoff, commented: “With the appointment of Cath, I am confident that we now have an exceptional team in place to help New Care expand at a faster rate and deliver our vision of quality, person-centred care. We are all looking forward to working with her over the coming months.”

A registered general nurse, Cath qualified in 1988 at Warrington General Hospital and completed an MBA via Open University in 2006. Married with two daughters and one granddaughter, Cath enjoys walking her dogs, watching films and holidaying at home and abroad when not working. She has lived in Ashton in Makerfield for many years, but has also travelled with her husband when he was in the armed forces.
