A CHARITY for older people has praised a company for its winter work.

Cousins Dan and Sam Houghton, who run Top Mark Solutions, have been heralded by Age UK for their work with elderly residents.

Sam, from Southern Road in Sale, said he is aware of how vulnerable elderly residents can be especially when dealing with tradesmen.

He said: "There are so many rogue traders operating within our industry, we hear some horror stories as to what some of these people have been charged and are determined to ensure they receive the right price for a good job."

Mark Lunney, chief executive of Age UK Mid Mersey, said: “It’s so rewarding to hear of responsible companies taking greater care to ensure our older people locally, can access caring, reputable and trusted traders. Many pensioners are vulnerable and often come to us for advice.

"Offering discounts to older clients alongside, assurances of added consideration to customer care is welcomed by Age UK Mid Mersey.

"I wish Sam and his cousin well and pleased they support our work."

The company allows residents to get 'winter ready'. Their services include gutter clearance with a state of the art vacuum avoiding need for ladders and scaffolding, industrial pressure washing of driveways, paths and decking to avoiding slips and falls in the damp winter months.
