LAST weekend saw the inaugural flight of Singapore Airlines direct to Houston from Manchester and also the new non stop service to Singapore To mark the occasion a celebration launch party was held at Manchester Airport for officials and VIPs.

Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon, minister for transport, was keen to see the new service and that passengers in the north are using Manchester Airport more and more.

Ken O Toole, managing director at Manchester Airport, says figures for this year will exceed 25 million passengers in 12months. The most that has ever passed through the airport since the airport opened 70 years ago with passengers coming from all over the North West, Wales, North East and Midlands.

Altrincham travel agent ken Garrity was keen to support these new direct services and says this will benefit not only business clients who can get to Houston or Singapore faster, but also for travellers who wish to visit these destinations for holidays. The more direct services the better for travellers from Manchester Airport.
