THE Downs has got a bright future ahead – with a £15million investment set to transform the street.

Thompson Visinoni and Consensus Property Ltd have got a major redevelopment project on their hands for Altrincham.

The frontages and landed to the rear of six properties – 16 to 24 The Downs – will be refurbished and built upon to create a mix of luxury residential and retail space.

Approved plans include 14 mainly two-bed apartments, with underground parking, and a block of six two-bed apartments adjoined by four three-bed townhouses to the rear. The townhouses will overlook a new courtyard and landscaped area.

There are plans for a further five or six three-bed townhouses on the recently acquired former bowling green.

As well as substantial investment, a great deal of time has been invested in the project, with the properties acquired over the past 12 years by the Joint Venture Partners.

The apartments and townhouses will be offered for private sale over the coming months and the ground floor commercial units, which are also being refurbished, have already been pre-let, mainly to existing tenants.

The scheme, designed by Tsiantar Architects, is expected to be completed over the next 16 months.
