FROM gluten-free pies to chocolate brownies, Fairtrade rugs to retro dresses, there is everything imaginable under the canopies of the inaugural Urmston Artisan Market.

The Market Co has chosen Urmston as the location of its latest artisan market, joining the likes of Wilmslow, Northwich and Bramhall Hall.

It will be located on the original outdoor site of the traditional weekly market, in Railway Road, and will take place on the first Saturday of every month from 10am to 4pm.

The launch event is just around the corner, taking place on Saturday June 4.

Denise Valente, director of The Market Co, said: “Urmston is really on the up and up, with many new independent businesses moving into the area. Urmston Artisan Market will provide a great new shopping experience for both residents and visitors complementing the existing permanent retail offer and bringing lots of additional footfall into the town adding vibrancy and excitement to the high street.

“So far the response has far exceeded our expectations with large portions of the population showing their support on both social media and in the meetings we have attended. Word on the street is really positive and news of our launch is spreading like wild fire.”

As well as artisan stalls, there will be street-food and entertainment, including Trafford rat pack and Irish country singer Wayne Devlin, at the launch event next Saturday.

“Urmston Artisan Market will not disappoint,” added Denise. “We already have over 60 awesome traders signed up for the first event, many locally based in or near Urmston and all bringing outstanding hand-made, often award winning products.

“We've also got some local businesses taking stalls too, Rose and Bumble (shabby chic & crafts), Patch to Posy (fresh flowers), Rif Raf Furniture (upcycled vintage), Aberrant Perspectives (photography) so that they can showcase what's on offer in their premises all month round, not just on Market Day.”
