A REVAMPED Altrincham pub cut the ribbon at its relaunch night on Friday May 20.

The Tavern on the Green has thrown open its doors following a £200,000 transformation.

The makeover has also seen the creation of seven new jobs at the Stamford New Road pub.

New manager Sam Foster said: “I’m delighted to be managing the new Tavern on the Green – it’s a great pub, in a lovely location.

“We’ve worked very hard to change the positioning of the pub from a wet-led model championing late night loud music to a friendly community pub.

“The locals have been very receptive of the change – we had a staggering 400 likes across our social media channels before we’d even opened our doors.”

Along with extensive internal and external refurbishments, The Tavern on the Green has refreshed its food and drinks menu.

Sam added: “I wanted the Tavern on the Green to be a place where local people can come and enjoy quality British fayre.

“Our offering includes 17 pies from award-winning pie maker Pieminister. While formulating the new menu, I went down to the factory in Bristol to see the pie making process first hand – they’re the real McCoy and I know they’ll be a big hit with our customers.”

Sam also used the launch event to present a representative of Our Altrincham, with a cheque for £250.

This year, Sam and the Tavern team will be helping Our Altrincham prepare for the North West in Bloom Awards, by planting and maintaining a large planter in the centre of town.
