THE ‘Go To Boating Essentials’ website Starboard Locker has scooped a Small Business Award from Nick Brown, the business expert on The Jeremy Vine Show on BBC Radio 2.
Bowdon-based Starboard Locker (www.starboardlocker.com ) - was established in 2015 by former merchant seaman, Mike Gathercole and Ian Lofthouse.
It won the award after impressing Nick Brown who broadcasts to millions of listeners on the Jeremy Vine show with his tips and advice for business owners.
Mr Gathercole, who came up with the idea of Starboard Locker in 2015, said “It was a bit of a dream of ours to work in the boating industry. It has always been our passion and we just got sick of living the dream on weekends only.”
Nick Brown said: “Ian and Mike have come up with a great idea. I can see this being a huge national success story.
"This is a small business with great potential. I am delighted that Starboard Locker has won my Small Business of the Week Award.
