AN Altrincham businesswoman has been named chairman of the South Manchester Business Association (SMBA).

Liz Law, founder and managing director of online selling firm Clean up Your Clutter, has replaced Andrew Snowden as head of long-running the independent networking group.

Despite only being a member for 18 months it is Liz’s second leadership appointment, having spent the past year as the club’s social secretary.

She said: “When Andrew asked me to take over the role of chair I was flattered to be offered such a responsible role so early into my membership.

“This group has inspired me and I hope to be able to give something back. I hope to continue to move the group forward by promoting the SMBA within our local community, raising the profile of all our businesses and having a little fun whilst we all improve our bottom line.”

Liz, whose firm Clean up Your Clutter specialises in selling big ticket items through online auction house eBay, is one of more than 30 members of the networking group which represents businesses across south Manchester and Trafford with PR professionals, quantity surveyors and insurance experts among its ranks.

Members meet every Wednesday at 6.45am at The Bowdon Hotel in Altrincham.

Outgoing Chair Andrew Snowden said: “Twelve months ago Liz was asked to perform the role of social secretary and she immediately impressed with her limitless energy and enthusiasm.

“I am genuinely excited by Liz’s appointment and truly believe the next 12 months could be the best yet for the SMBA.”
