A CLOTHING manufacturer from Trafford that produces personalised garments for team sports and the workplace has secured a grant of more than £12,000 from the Textile Growth Programme.

Cavendish, which has been producing clothing from their premises in Higher Road, Urmston for 30 years, secured the grant having worked with Manchester’s Business Growth Hub.

The grant is aimed at creating and safeguarding jobs in the textile sector, and can be accessed by businesses from footwear, knitting, dying, carpet manufacture, technical textiles, as well as manufacturers of textile machinery – and more.

The cash will help the Cavendish owner, Stan Smith, expand his business and take on more staff. “Our business is all about attention to detail,” he said.

“We work hard to understand our customers’ needs, and to give them exactly what they want. That’s not just about the products we sell, it’s about the advice and support that goes with it.

“The grant means we can move faster, and the great news is that we’ll be creating four new jobs within the business including one apprentice to help us grow” he added.

The Textile Growth Programme programme is focused on creating and safeguarding jobs via a grant funded scheme to support capital projects, skills training and research and development.

The service is delivered by people with extensive experience at all levels within the sector, and who understand the day-to-day pressures of running a business.
