J J BLACK Consultancy, based in Altrincham, agrees with comments made by President Obama on his recent visit to Kenya..

The company has ongoing operations is North East Kenya managed from their office in Entebbe, Uganda, this is the focal point for their operations in East Africa.

J J Black (Uganda) Limited works closely with the UK office based in Broadheath, Altrincham. Currently software development teams are collaborating on several projects. They have over the last two years successfully delivered bespoke software for the European and African markets.

John Guilfoyle, development manager said: “We established a presence in Uganda two years ago to support our ongoing operations in Kenya, Uganda, Mozambique & South Africa. We recruited a multi-functional support team which recently allowed the company to expand into operational aspects of travel logistics.

"Whilst our core business is provision of software for oil & mining companies, we have taken advantage of the opportunities in Africa to develop new business. This in turn has a positive effect for our development work in the UK.”

The recent high profile visit by President Obama to Kenya has highlighted there are openings for UK companies who want to establish trading links in Africa. We are very well placed in Uganda as they are signatories to the African Free Trade Zone agreement.

Addressing security concerns, Mr Guilfoyle went on to say; “There are often safety concerns working in East Africa, safety of our staff both local and expat is of paramount importance. We are fortunate that we are able to use our own travel management program Stratus Logistics to monitor the whereabouts of our people. The system has the ability to alert us if an individual feels they are in danger and allows personnel tracking via smartphone."

Development teams in the UK and Africa are working on a new product which will be released at a Manchester launch early 2016. Details of the software are commercially sensitive; the company will be recruiting new staff in the UK to support the project in the New Year.
