A TRAFFORD Park company that creates pioneering security solutions has helped provide peace of mind to families visiting popular Stockport facility Life Leisure Grand Central Pools by installing four of its unique Buggy Locks - completely free of charge.

Cardea Solutions fitted the locks to cubicles to help create a safe environment for visitors to the bustling leisure centre. The added security comes at a welcome time for Life Leisure Grand Central, which is becoming increasingly busy after four members of its swim team, Stockport Metro Swimming Club, were selected to participate in a series of prestigious competitions.

Lauren Quigley, aged 20, will take part in the 2015 World Swimming Championships, while Katie Matts, aged 16, and Holly Hibbott, aged 15, will represent their country in the World Junior Championships and Maddie Crompton, aged 15, will make an appearance in the European Games with Holly.

This follows a successful week for the team at the British Swimming Championships in April.

Cardea’s managing director, Paul O’Carroll, said: “We were only too happy to donate our Buggy Locks to Life Leisure Grand Central, which is a thriving hub for the local community.

"It’s a place where parents should be encouraged to bring their prams, safe in the knowledge that they can leave them unattended during what should prove to be a busy summer, as the centre’s swim team gears itself for potential success in the World Swimming Championships, World Junior Championships and European Games.”

This initiative will also come as welcome news to parents after Cardea recently used statistics from Halifax Home Insurance to calculate that pram theft is costing UK mums a staggering £135m each year.

Mr O’Carroll added: “We developed our unique Buggy Lock to give peace of mind to parents and guardians when leaving their prams and buggies unattended.

"Our heavy duty Buggy Lock allows pushchairs and prams to be safely and conveniently locked up. This makes it the perfect theft deterrent service in public places such as coffee shops, nurseries, leisure attractions, restaurants and any other type of venue which welcomes families and young children.”
