ALTRINCHAM’S McGoff & Byrne has successfully completed the first phase of a redevelopment project at Butlins in Minehead, Somerset, unveiling a series of new chalets in what has become known as West Lakes Village.

The scheme, worth £15.7m, was delivered on time, in 56 weeks, and within budget by the privately owned construction company, who were responsible for the entire build and fit out of the project.

As the principal contractor, McGoff & Byrne chose to establish a large on site presence in Minehead with senior personnel supervising the build daily, but the company also created approximately 85 jobs for tradesmen.

The holiday resort now boasts 117 lakeside, lake view and park view chalets arranged in one and two storey cluster blocks in landscaped parkland around two newly created lakes.

North West-based architects Allison Pike have been actively involved in the project since inception.

For McGoff & Byrne; it represents the biggest project to date for the company and the principal contractor is currently in talks with Butlins regarding phase two, which would incorporate an enlargement of the West Lakes Village.

Dave McGoff, executive director at McGoff & Byrne, said: “This particular project has been a pleasure to work on for the whole team at McGoff & Byrne and we are thrilled with the finished result."

Located on Lyon Road in Altrincham, McGoff & Byrne specialises in a number of sectors, including health and education, hotel and leisure, commercial and industrial, residential and community.
