WHOOTS, an American-styled diner, has re-opened its doors after the Altrincham Interchange renovation work forced it to re-think its concept while the work took place.

Based in Altrincham Interchange, the company, started by Matthew Madeley, Liam Williamson, and Simon Thomas (pictured, left to right), originally sold smoothies and milkshakes to commuters.

The renovation work meant it had to find a new way of reaching its customer base and it needed help.

It found that help with Business Finance Solutions (BFS) and a Start-Up Now loan of £12,000.

BFS is a Government-backed, Community Development Finance Institution (CDFI) who offer low-cost finance, vital advice, support and mentoring to businesses across the North West via the Start-Up Now initiative.

Whoots used the loan and advice to become an online home delivery American food take-away.

Now the recently opened Altrincham Interchange renovation work is near completion, Whoots has refurbished its kitchen and dining area.

Company director Liam Williamson, Sale, said: "The Start-Up Now loan and support came at a critical time for us, when we were having to completely rethink our business model very quickly.”

Manchester-based Business Finance Solutions (BFS) is celebrating a major milestone with over £6m in start-up loans as part of the initiative.

Paul Breen, director of BFS said: "Delivering £6m worth of loans to businesses in the North West is a fantastic achievement."

He continued: "Start-Up Now is all about unlocking the great entrepreneurial spirit that this region has become famous for."
