A TAILOR from Urmston has collaborated with a Devon-based artist to launch a range of bespoke suits.

The brand new clothing line was unveiled at a prestigious event in Central London.

Bespoke tailor Richard Smith from Urmston, and acclaimed artist Paul Kenton from Lee, Devon, came together last year to create an exclusive range of suits.

Just four months on, the collection has been unveiled at a launch event at Castle Fine Art on Bruton Street, with the bespoke pieces receiving rave reviews from guests.

Following the trend of artist and designer collaborations, Kenton and Smith’s partnership aims to push boundaries and create something truly unique, bringing together tailoring and painting.

The project was borne out of a chance tweet from Smith to Kenton to express admiration for one of his paintings that he had hanging in his store. After a few direct messages, the pair decided to create suits that incorporated Kenton’s artistic skills with Smith’s designs.

The made-to-measure suits are created in Smith’s Manchester-based store and sent to Kenton’s studio in Devon. Kenton then paints directly onto the suits using his signature drip technique to create a distinct and individual look.

Richard, founder and designer of Richard Smith Bespoke, said: “I can’t believe how far the project has come in such a short period of time, from sending that first tweet to launching a new collection of suits.

“I’ve long admired Paul’s work so to be working with him is an honour.”
