TRAFFORD students are celebrating ‘excellent’ A Level results, which place them among the best in the country.

The number of students gaining A* to E grades has increased by a percentage to 99.2 per cent - beating the national average of 97.8 per cent.

More than a third of pupils got an A or A* grade, beating the national average by 10 per cent.

There was a 0.5 per cent increase in the number of students achieving the new A* grade, bringing the total to 11.5 per cent - higher than the national average of 8.2 per cent.

Executive Councillor John Holden said students were continuing a tradition of excellent results in Trafford.

“Trafford schools provide first rate opportunities for students to develop, prosper and reach their individual potential.

“The Council remains committed to maintaining these opportunities.

“This together with the hard work and commitment of the students themselves is ensuring here in Trafford students continue to secure excellent results.

“Congratulations must also go to headteachers, teachers and school support staff, school governors and parents, who have all played their part in supporting students throughout their academic careers.

“Everyone involved should be extremely proud of their achievements.”
