Plea for more trees in Timperley

A TIMPERLEY councillor has proposed for more trees planted on grass verges.

Cllr Jane Brophy has called for a proposed tree planting project linked to flood alleviation in the vicinity of Timperley Brook to be extended into Timperley ward. The tree planting on local streets would be coordinated by Red Rose Forest, through their Green Streets programme, and funded via developer contributions and a grant from Trafford’s Environment Partnership.

Cllr Brophy’s aim is to get Trafford Council to make more small ornamental trees available for Timperley residents to plant on grass verges. These trees would be free or at a reduced price for those who are willing to look after them.

Cllr Brophy said: “More trees on our streets would benefit the visual environment, make people less likely to park on the pavement and would help with flood alleviations due to increased rain.”
