THE National Trust is aiming to get everyone off the sofa and into the countryside this half-term as part of The Great British Walk 2012.

At Trust places and space across Cheshire, including Dunham Massey, visitors can enjoy lots of family walking events.

Spokesman for the trust, Debbie Peers, said: “We’ve got glorious stretches of walking countryside just waiting to be explored. You can get close up and personal to autumn wildlife at Dunham Massey’s family deer rut walks and family fungi walks at Quarry Bank Mill. If you’re a garden lover be sure to take a walk through Dunham’s Winter Garden with its brilliant autumn hues of reds, golds and russets - all highlighted against the background of winter evergreens – simply stunning.”

There's a chance to find out about the villages of Dunham Town and Little Bollington on Dunham Massey’s ‘Two Villages Walk’ on November 3.
