ALTRINCHAM Fire Station has been awarded a special certificate for its 50 years of work in the community. The framed certificate was presented to Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Jim Owen, Trafford Borough manager, Andy Dugdale, and Altrincham station manager, Kev Brogden, by the newly installed Provost of Altrincham and members of the Court Leet. Station Manager Brogden said: “When we had our 50th anniversary celebrations in May, the Court Leet saw an article in the press about it and decided that they wanted to award the fire station for the work it’s carried out over the years. “They had quite a lengthy discussion about it apparently and decided to award the station the Silver Lion Award which we are very grateful for – it’s a wonderful gesture.” GMFRS officers collected the award at the town hall when members of the Court Leet followed tradition by announcing the award to the community from the front steps.
