Sale primary schools complete Aspire programme
4:50pm Saturday 20th October 2012 in News
PUPILS at two Sale primary schools were awarded certificates and medals after completing a six week course which helped them find out about the world of work.
The six week Aspirations Programme was delivered by We Aspire career guidance professionals, Nursel Tok and Isobel Freeman, and involved children from The Firs and Woodheys primary schools researching careers and interviewing adults about their jobs.
Nursel said the programme was put together in response to the Hughes Report in 2011, which stated it is never too early for people to start thinking about future careers and educational opportunities.
Headteacher at The Firs Primary School, Nerys Hitchcock, said: "It has been fantastic for the children to have their eyes opened to the many opportunities that could lie ahead of them.
“Our mission at The Firs is to inspire our children, encourage self-belief and then hopefully they can achieve to their fullest potential.”
